Surgical-IRIS Education
SIRIS is a surgical patient education interface built on Mayo Clinic's IRIS platform. It helps patients ask specialty-focused education questions, review Mayo Clinic resources, and prepare questions for their care team.
SIRIS uses Mayo Clinic's IRIS External API TEST environment to answer education-focused questions from available patient education sources.
Each chat is shaped by the selected surgical specialty, with related topics, glossary terms, resources, and visit-preparation tools.
SIRIS is not medical advice, a diagnostic tool, or a way to determine surgical candidacy. Urgent concerns should go to the care team or urgent/emergency care.
Patient preparation
SIRIS supports visit preparation. It does not diagnose, give medical advice, determine surgical candidacy, or replace your care team.
SIRIS helps patients and caregivers understand education topics before a visit so conversations with the care team can be more focused.
SIRIS can explain broad preparation, recovery, warning symptoms, and care-team question topics using available patient education materials.
Patients can save questions from chat or add their own list of topics to bring to a surgical visit.
SIRIS can export saved questions and Saved Q&A so patients have a cleaner visit-preparation summary.
People behind SIRIS
SIRIS is supported by surgical education, platform development, IRIS/API, research, and user experience collaborators.
